The Department of Public Works has experienced reduced staffing due to COVID-19 and other seasonal illnesses. In response the City has implemented a temporary service change to recycling and yard trimming materials only, to mitigate the impact while continuing to provide quality, efficient services to our valued residents.

The week of Monday, February 15, 2021, the Department of Public Works Office of Solid Waste Services, began to alternate the weeks of collection services for yard trimmings and recycling materialsXổ số Tây Ninh tuần trước.  

For at least the next 90 days: 

  • Recycling and yard trimmings will be collected every other week. (Recycling materials will be collected one week, and yard trimming materials will be collected the following week).
  • There are NO CHANGES to the Department’s other curbside collection programs, including solid waste and back yard collections. Residents should follow their normal schedule and place their material at the curb after 7:00 p.m., the night before their scheduled collection day.

  •  Extra recyclables will be collected at no extra charge to residents. Once your blue cart is full, place additional recyclables in reusable containers clearly marked "Recycling" next to your cart.

Residents MUST still schedule bulk collections through ATL311, onlineXổ số Tây Ninh tuần trước or on our ATL Solid Waste mobile app, which can be downloaded on Google Play or through the Apple Play store.  

HARD TO RECYCLE MATERIALS:  

These items should NOT be discarded in curbside recycling or solid waste collections.

Office of the Commissioner 

The Office of the Commissioner provides leadership and direction for the overall management and operation of the Department Public Works. It provides support services for the management of departmental operations. These support services include human resource and labor relations; budget administration and management; monitoring of contracts, grants, and assessments; communications & community engagement; analysis of operations for improving effectiveness and efficiency; and coordination of legislative affairs for the department.

Office of Solid Waste Services

The Office of Solid Waste Services is responsible for the collection and disposal management of solid waste within the City of Atlanta. This office is responsible for waste reduction & The Recycling Program; landfill post-closure management; solid waste management and analysis; education and enforcement (S.W.E.E.T.); street sweeping and cleaning; dead animal removal; facilitating The Keep Atlanta Beautiful Program; and assisting with city-wide emergency operations.

Office of Fleet Services

The Office of Fleet Services is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance and disposal of the City of Atlanta’s motorized equipment fleet of 4,673 units and 756 components, totaling over 5,429 pieces. This Office is also responsible for the purchasing and dispensing of over three million gallons of fuel annually. Additionally, this office partners with other City departments in the delivery of critical City services.
